SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

It is not too early to start thinking about getting those Teachers Memorial Scholarship applications in. Please contact me via phone (406-322-5049) or e-mail (whitebirdcc@gmail.com), for your applications. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior or returning college student, and a relative of a Whitebird Community Center member in good standing. Applications must be postmarked no later than May 1st.
Donations can be made to the scholarship fund and will be kept in a separate account. Donations are tax deductible under IRS section 501 (c) (3).

KURT HEIGIS

We lost another dear friend. Kurt Heigis tragically lost his life while spending the winter in Costa Rica. Kurt will be missed in our community. He was the one who got our annual pig roast going. A memorial fund has been established, and tax deductable donations can be made at anytime.

 BINGO AND GAME NIGHTS

The Bingo and Game nights will continue until the end of May.  Bingo is on the second Saturday evening, and game night is on the fourth Saturday starting at 7pm. Nickel, dime, quarter poker seems to the game of choice, but if you would like, bring a few friends and get a game of your choice going… We were introduced to a new game called five crowns, sure is a lot of fun. Thanks Frank and Peggy..

ST. URHO DAY CELEBRATION

Mark Pederson brought it to my attention that we had talked about a Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner last year, and it never got done. After some serious contemplation it was decided to getter done this year. The 17th (St Paddy’s day) happened to be on a Monday, so we thought it would be better to have it on Sunday, St. Urho’s day. Over 50 attended, and a good time was had by all.

ON-GOING PROJECTS

We have two projects going on at this time.  The outhouse project has been postponed, the weather got too cold to pour concrete so we had to give up on that until spring.  The windows have all been replaced and new trim installed.  We also purchased and installed nice new blinds. It was decided to repaint the interior walls and it looks great.  Thanks Bruce Kelley and Sue Pederson.
While working on the windows, it became quite obvious that the kitchen needs some serious attention. We will be working on that also when the weather breaks.
We had to replace the water tank in the kitchen; somehow the bladder decided to develop a leak.

Be sure to check out the Facebook and Blogspots.
I will be posting information about happenings, events, from time to time…  I will try to keep them as up to date as I can…

$ Treasurer’s Report $
We have $4987.27 in the checking account and $2453.43 in the scholarship fund for a total of $7440.70. All bills are paid.
      2014 DUES ARE BEING ACCEPTED
The date on your mailing label should show the date your dues are paid thru, if it is wrong please accept my apology. Let me know and I will make it right.
Donations for the scholarship fund are greatly appreciated, and are tax deductable.
